KAROO NEWS - “No! We will not give up without a fight!” This, according to Childhood Cancer Foundation (CHOC) South Africa, who hopes to do their bit for childhood cancer through Flip Flop Day.
CHOC is an internationally recognised non-profit organisation, who has been providing several services to families with children diagnosed with cancer.
These service include accommodation, transport, counselling, awareness and education, as well as advocacy and several additional programs to assist families in their hour of need.
The non-profit says this year’s annual Flip Flop Day will be no different. Flip Flop Day will be launched on 14 February, and will allow South Africans from all walks of life to show their support by purchasing a sticker for R10 in support against childhood cancer.
According to CHOC's CEO, Carl Queiros, the initiative is a beacon of light in the darkness these children and families face. "The journey that children and teenagers with cancer face is in no way a light-hearted matter, but by creating an annual event like Flip Flop Day that raises money towards childhood cancer awareness, it is definitely a time to be joyous," said Queiros.
People from all walks of life are invited to wear flip flops.
CHOC has urged all South Africans to show their support by purchasing their stickers at any PNA stores, CHOC offices, or the organisation's website. Queiros said CHOC aims to continue their passionate work by showing their refusal to back down and let childhood cancer win.
