GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Nqweba Secondary School choir from uMasizakhe, Graaff-Reinet, represented the Sarah Baartman district at the provincial ABC Motsepe South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod in Mthatha on Friday 26 May.
The 60-voice choir left Graaff-Reinet at 18:00 on Thursday and arrived in Mthatha in the early hours of Friday.
"At 10:00 we were already rehearsing for the big hour," said Thandie Sileku, one of the choir conductors.
The choir, including soloists, conducted by Asanele Jubela, performed songs like African piece, Come let us sing unto the Lord and Con assequio, con rispetto.
Unfortunately, the choir did not make it to the national competition, but it was a wonderful opportunity and great exposure for the singers.
