Girl drowns in Bongweni Dam

An inquest has been opened and the Cookhouse police are investigating the tragic events.

Girl drowns in Bongweni Dam

KAROO NEWS - The police are investigating the drowning of an 11-year-old girl in the Bongweni Dam near Cookhouse on Sunday 17 December.

According to Graaff-Reinet police spokesperson Captain Bradley Rawlinson, the girl was swimming with a group of friends at 14:00 when the kids saw that she was in trouble. 

She was struggling to swim in the muddy section of the dam and drowned before she could be reached.

An inquest has been opened and the Cookhouse police are investigating the tragic events.
