NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS - Whilst communities are still strapped by the strains of Covid-19, certain individuals continue to relieve the emotional tension with their selfless service.
Frank Gentry, owner of Karoo Taxidermy in Graaff-Reinet, is one of these individuals.
During the 2020 lockdown period, Gentry donated 1 000 masks to the less privileged and unemployed in the community of Nieu-Bethesda after he was approached by Ricardo Smith, Ward 2 councillor for the DA in the Dr Beyers Naude Municipality.
He also made available his sanitiser foam machine and sanitising liquid, free of charge, to deep clean the Lettie de Klerk Primary School, the clinic, shops, taverns and a church in an attempt to "stem the tide of infections" that have been extremely high in Nieu-Bethesda.
This year he donated 1 000 more masks. Last week he made available, again free of charge, two of his sanitiser foam machines, sanitising liquid and two employees to deep clean Kroonvale Primary after the school was temporarily closed due to Covid-19.
The DA would like to express their gratitude to Frank Gentry for his ongoing assistance in their efforts to provide support to communities during Covid-19. Samantha Graham-Maré, Constituency Head: Dr Beyers Naude, says that this has allowed them to undertake campaigns that they would ordinarily not have been able to do.
