GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A gardener, Sindile Edward Mdingi (42), drowned in a swimming pool while at work in Caledon Street, Graaff-Reinet.
According to Police Spokesperson, Captain Bradley Rawlinson, the tragedy happened on Wednesday 18 September, at around noon.
Rawlinson said the home's domestic worker heard a noise from the back door, and upon investigation discovered Mdingi in the pool.
"She called for help and also tried to rescue him on her own. Emergency Services took the rescue attempt further, but all efforts were unsuccessful," Rawlinson told the Advertiser.
Mdingi was declared dead on the scene.
Rawlinson said it is alleged that the deceased may have suffered an epileptic attack and fell into the pool.
An inquest docket has been opened.
