GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Gabriella Hector, daughter of Winston and Joan Hector from Graaff-Reinet, qualified as medical doctor in December 2021.

She attended Union Preparatory and matriculated at Union High School in Graaff Reinet in 2013 and then applied for the NMFC (Nelson Mandela and Fidel Castro (NMFC) bursary and was accepted.

She went to Cuba in 2014 to study at the University of Science and Medicine in the Havana faculty of De Victoria de Giron. Gabriella returned in July 2020 to further her studies at the University of the Free State for the last 18 months.

In December 2021 she successfully completed her studies and obtained her MBCHB and started her internship in Kimberley at the Robert Sobukwe Hospital on 1 January 2022.

Gabriella finished her studies alongside Wakhele Ndaba, Zuko Mjada, both former learners from from Union High, and Justin Oormeyer (Spandau Secondary).
