GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The total contact related crimes for 2019 in Graaff-Reinet, as released by Crimes Stats SA, shows 13 fewer murders than in 2018. Twelve murders were reported thus far in 2019, in comparison with 23 murders reported during the same period in 2018.
Attempting to commit a murder showed an increase from 5 to 13.
One more sexual offence (59 during 2018 and 60 during 2019) were reported.
Getting aggravated when assaulting somebody showed an increase from 220 to 253 for assault with grievous bodily harm. Common assault also shows an increase from 149 to 193.
Committing a robbery with aggravating intention increased from 55 to 66, with common robbery decreasing from 38 to 36.
Arson, in the category for contact related crimes, increased from seven to eight. In the same category, malicious damage to property declined from 141 to 119.
