KAROO NEWS - The annual Union High School prize-giving event took place on 18 October.

At the evening event, Caitrin Spence was named as the dux learner for 2023.

She also received the UHS prize for life orientation, UHS prize for tourism, GB & GR C Prinsloo prize for accounting, McGaffin prize for Afrikaans first additional language, UHS prize for English, Vrede award for bilingualism, UHS prize for advanced maths, Max Kroon Prize for mathematics, the Tony Burrell award for outstanding academic achievement, the Old Unionite Bursary for further study and the Joy Arnott / Helen Watermeyer Trust bursary (in memory of Helen Watermeyer) to the head girl of the school, as a present pure and simple, for her to do with as she liked.

Caitrin Spence and Arno Nell shared this year's prize for all-round excellence in culture.
