COOKHOUSE NEWS - According to Eastern Cape SAPS, the Cookhouse police's efforts to deal with the possession of drugs continue to yield results with the arrest of a 32-year-old man for the possession of drugs, while Khat plants were found with two suspects aged 27 and 43.
Police spokesperson, Captain Bradley Rawlinson says at 20:45 on Sunday 14 February, the Cookhouse Crime Prevention Unit followed up information regarding drug dealing in Ntaka Street, Bongweni.
Executing a search and seizure warrant, they confiscated 32 Tik straws, Mandrax and a substantial amount of cash.
The suspect was arrested.
A few hours later, at 01:30, the Cookhouse Crime Prevention Unit formed a vehicle check point on the N10, after receiving a tip-off that a Toyota Fortuner was carrying plants used for making Khat.
After stopping the vehicle, they found three bundles of Khat plants inside and two suspects were arrested.
Acting Vispol Commander, Captain Ivan Fillis commended the members' success.
