KAROO NEWS - The first The Karoo Market, with a special Christmas Market, will be held on Somerset Street, Graaff-Reinet, on the evening of 14 December from 5pm until 8pm.
According to the organisers, they hope this market will be an opportunity to promote Graaff-Reinet to the influx of tourists that the town sees this time of the year. "Somerset Street is secure and includes some of the town's most beautiful architecture and gardens," they said.
The market is open to crafters from all Karoo towns, to display their talents and earn an additional income.
“Graaff-Reinet is part of the greater Karoo community, and at difficult times like this, we must stand together and support each other," explained one of the organisers, Nicola Beldon.
She has teamed up with local musician, Moses Jacobus, to provide live entertainment. Jacobus has already lined up artists from around Graaff-Reinet to create a festive vibe with music ranging from popular hits to Christmas carols.
“There will a large variety of stalls for Christmas shopping, and local restaurants will be part of the market, so invite friends to come along for dinner," Beldon added. "We will provide fun activities for the children and they can meet Father Christmas! We invite everyone to join us for this special evening, to celebrate our town, our community and Christmas.”
Stalls are still available at R150 each. To book a stall contact Nicola Beldon at thekaroomarket@gmail.com or on Whatsapp on 083 415 6514.
