GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - While many readers were enjoying their Easter weekend with friends and family, eating Easter eggs and enjoying the long weekend, the Graaff-Reinet SPCA wasn’t that lucky.
Over the weekend they became victim to burglars who not only made off with a laptop and a microchip reader, but also stole one of their rescued dogs, Rex.
According to a post on the SPCA’s Facebook page, the burglars, who are still on the loose, made off with the laptop and the microchip reader on Saturday 3 April and the next day, Sunday, they cut the outside boundary fence as well as one of the kennel enclosure fences and took Rex.
A few weeks ago cell phones were also stolen from them.
They gained access to the premises by cutting the boundary fence.
“We are battling to help the animals in the community and this unwarranted criminality further aggravates our precarious position,” read the post.
Anyone who has seen Rex, who knows where he is, or would like to help the SPCA in any way, is asked to contact them on 072 123 1722.
The burglars cut the fence to Rex’s kennel.
