GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Graaff-Reinet SAPS continues with the fight against drug trafficking and abuse. This past week they arrested five people for possession of drugs.
One man was arrested on 2 May for contravening a protection order, when he assaulted his wife with a coffee table in Santaville on Circle Drive.
Possession of drugs
• A man was in arrested in possession of mandrax and dagga at a hiking spot on the N9 en route to Aberdeen on 1 May.
• On Joy Steward Street, Asherville, police on 2 May stopped and searched a man. He was arrested for possession of mandrax and dagga.
• One full and one quarter mandrax tablet was found on a man on Duiker Street, Kroonvale, on 2 May.
• Four 'bankies' of tik was found on a man on Du Plessis Street, Kroonvale, on 2 May. The tik was hidden in a tablet container.
• On Tulp Street, Asherville, a man was on arrested on 3 May for possession of three tik straws and two tik 'bankies".
Stock theft
On a farm in the Nieu-Betheda district, one merino sheep was stolen and slaughtered on 2 May.
Burglary
In Asherville, between 30 April and 1 May, a tricycle, two-plate stove and a cellphone were stolen from a residence.
Attempted burglary
On 2 May at 10.45pm, someone tried to break into a business on Oval Drive. The alarm went off and the suspect fled.
Theft
• At a home on Carnation Street, Kroonvale, a flowerpot and a pair of sandals were stolen from the yard.
• Two wooden poles were stolen from the SANParks property in Riemvasmaak on 1 May.
