KAROO NEWS - No visitors will be allowed at homes for the aged under the auspices of the ACVV, in response to a directive from the organisation’s head office.
In the former Camdeboo, the homes affected are Aalwynhof in Aberdeen and Huis van de Graaff in Graaff-Reinet.
Residents will also not be permitted to leave the homes in an effort to protect those who are amongst the most vulnerable from the covid-19 virus.
These restrictions are initially in place for 30 days, and will be reconsidered after this.
A representative of Parsonage Street Home in Graaff-Reinet told the Advertiser that at this point, residents in the mid-care section are allowed to leave the premises, but must ensure strict hygiene measures on their return.
The only visitors permitted on the premises are health care workers (doctors and physiotherapists) and those taking religious services. The health of all residents is being monitored closely by the resident nursing sister.
At Edenhof, where residents live in individual units, each resident must ensure that they, and any visitors, follow strict hand-washing and sanitation regimes. The communal dining room is disinfected thoroughly on a regular basis.
