Covid-19: Midland Hospital overwhelmed by calls

GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Staff at Midland Hospital have been inundated by calls after a message circulating on WhatsApp erroneously gave contact details of an individual member of staff for those wanting more information on Covid-19. 

This has caused huge problems for the hospital.

The first step for anyone who is concerned about their health risk is to call the hotline on 0800 029 999. 

The recorded advice given is for private patients to contact their GP, and state patients, their nearest healthcare facility, which for those in Graaff-Reinet is Midland Hospital.

For those with other queries for the hotline, it could mean a long wait, as they are experiencing a high volume of calls.

We will update this information once further details have been released by Midland Hospital, but for now, the only number to use for the hospital is the switchboard on 049 807 748.
