KAROO NEWS - The coronavirus pandemic has led to a halt in events worldwide, including sport. Here is a wrap of a few sporting events not to circle on your calendar.
Rugby
- All competitive matches have been suspended by South Africa Rugby until 25 April at the earliest. All national team training camps and travel have been cancelled.
- The Guinness PRO14 is cancelled indefinitely
- The Champions Cup and Challenge Cup semi-finals have been postponed.
- The Super Rugby season was suspended.
Cricket
- Cricket South Africa cancelled all forms of cricket for at least 60 days.
- The start of the Indian Premier League was postponed to 15 April.
- The final two one-day internationals between India and South Africa will be rescheduled.
- Australia Women's limited-overs tour of South Africa, due to start on 22 March, was cancelled.
Golf
- n The Masters at Augusta was postponed.
- n The Players Championship, along with all PGA Tour events, is cancelled.
- n Africa's Sunshine Tour suspended all activities, and will make a final decision after 20 April.
- n The entire PGA EuroPro Tour has been cancelled.
Olympics and Paralympics
- Both the Olympics and Paralympics have been delayed for a year.
Football
- The Women's Super League and FA Women's Championship were postponed
- Professional football in England will not resume until 30 April at the earliest
- All Champions League and Europa League fixtures schedules for before 16 March were postponed.
- FIFA relaxed rules on clubs to release players for the upcoming international fixtures.
Boxing
- Japan cancelled all event scheduled for March.
- London-based Olympic qualifiers were postponed.
- All shows schedules at Madison Square Garden on 14 and 17 March have been postponed.
Motorsport
- The Australian Grand Prix was cancelled, along with the Monaco GP. Races in Vietnam, China, Spain, the Netherlands and Bahrain have been postponed.
- The Le Mans race in June was postponed.
- Formula One approved a shutdown period.
Tennis
- The BNP Paribas Open was called off.
- The Miami Open was cancelled.
- The French Open will be rescheduled.
Local races
- The Oceans Marathon has been cancelled.
- A decision about the Comrades Marathon will be made by 17 April.
