GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Much to the delight of local residents, during the past week municipal workers arrived to clean up the Tractor Park playground on the corner of West and Cradock Streets.
After the playground equipment was repainted and the park upgraded by efforts of former ward councillor Linda Botha last year, sadly it soon deteriorated and the area became a hang-out for youth with drug-taking and other nefarious activities.
Families with young children no longer felt safe in the area, and the danger of children possibly playing with used needles kept families away.
The municipal workers did a sterling job and raked all the rubble, needles, used condoms, various other personal items, plastic bags, food containers and leaves into piles.
This was no small task, and it took about ten workers quite a while to complete.
