ABERDEEN NEWS - Along with so many charity fundraisers, the Aberdeen Dutch Reformed Church's annual thanksgiving festival had to be postponed and this led to the innovative idea of the Safari collection.
One of the organisers, Estelle van Wyk, explained that this will allow residents, and even those from further afield, to enjoy the wonderful food that is traditionally associated with the bazaar over a longer period.
"The idea behind the Safari is simple: customers phone to order and then either collect or request delivery," said Van Wyk.
"The opportunity to get really good stuff at real good prices will now last for at least two months, not only for one day as in the past," she added, explaining that the specials will be advertised locally and on social media.
Available throughout the month are curry and rice, pancakes, biscuits and puddings, cakes and frozen foods, venison pies and fresh meat. As an end-of-month special, chops and meat cooked to perfection on the braai will be sold at the Farmers' Hall in Cathcart Street on Friday 26 and Saturday 27 June, and again at the end of July.
"This is a drive for funding for the Dutch Reformed Church in Aberdeen, during this stressful time with no income, and we'd like to invite everybody to support this online bazaar," said Van Wyk.
Details of the convenors for each section, and the specific goods and prices, can be obtained from Van Wyk on 081 785 4216
