GRAAFF-REINET NEWS AND VIDEO - Nature enthusiasts need not worry: day visitors can now make a trip to the Camdeboo National Park (and other South Africa National Parks), provided they wear masks, of course.
The re-opening follows weeks of countrywide park closures due to lockdown regulations.
Shortly before noon today (8 June), the Advertiser was the first visitor to the Camdeboo National Park outside Graaff-Reinet.
"I'm excited to back at work," said Tourism Monitor Khya Vas.
Security guard Ongezwa Bomela said she was also happy to be back. The two women conducted a screening process at the park's gate. This included a questionnaire, a temperature check, and hand sanitisation.
At the entrance to the Valley of Desolation, Tourism Monitor Jean Basi was sanitising visitors' hands at the ablution block. "It feels so good to be back at work," she said.
The park is stunning as ever, and sure to heighten the spirits of those with lockdown cabin fever.
Hides, picnic spots and braaing areas remain closed. Guests must adhere to level 3 lockdown regulations, and are encouraged to book and pay visits online at www.sanparks.org. They can also contact the park telephonically on 012 428 9112.
