KAROO NEWS - In honour of Heritage Day, Samara Private Game Reserve outside Graaff-Reinet is organising a poetry and story competition themed ‘hope in difficult times’, with food vouchers to be won.
Aspiring writers and poets from Graaff-Reinet and surrounds are invited to write a short story or poem (no more than 500 words), using the theme ‘hope in difficult times’.
These can be written in English, Afrikaans or isiXhosa. There are four different age group categories, namely: under 13s, 13 – 16, 17 – 20 and over 20s.
The deadline for entries is Heritage Day, 24 September 2020. Winners will be notified personally on 22 October 2020.
All entries must be submitted with an entry form to ensure entrants’ details are correctly captured. These are available from Samara’s community manager, Anneley Gradwell via email - lodge@samara.co.za or WhatsApp - 060 551 1279. Entry forms are also available from Mike Majova at Eazi Cash, 12 Somerset Street, Graaff-Reinet.
The winning work will be published on the Graaff-Reinet Advertiser’s digital platforms and social media channels.
