GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — The Assembly Young Adults (YA) group, which comprises young people aged from about 28 to 34, kindly offered to paint the interior of the Hospice offices.
A special collection was taken at one of the Sunday services to cover all costs involved in this project.
This was no “quick fix”, but a very thorough and competent job of work! Two young men spent a week preparing the walls by rubbing them down and filling any gaps where the plaster had fallen out. The group arrived at about 07:30 on Saturday, June 26, and after a long day’s hard labour, only finished at about 19:30.
They returned after church the following day to clean up and put all the furniture and fittings back into place.
The following Monday, two employees of Serfontein & Seun began work on the beautiful yellow-wood floors, scouring them on their hand and knees and oiling them and restoring them to their original beauty.
Once that large task was complete - after about two weeks - work began on restoring the wooden fencing around the stoep on Church Square and North Street. The intricate broekie lace work was meticulously repaired.
The team then whitewashed the outside walls and painted all the shutters.
Camdeboo Hospice thanks the Assembly Young Adults, Serfontein & Seun and the Heritage Trust for the refreshing, sparkling bright new premises from which the administrative staff work and where all the staff and board meetings are held. Bonnet House has had a marvellous makeover and the staff feel blessed and privileged to be able to rent and work in such beautiful premises.
