GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Graaff-Reinet police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a municipal truck collided with a motorbike, instantly killing the biker, in College Road in Graaff-Reinet last night.
The 40-year-old biker, identified only as A Manel, died at 19:30 on 30 March when he was hit by the truck, driven by a 24-year-old municipal sub-contractor, who lost control of the white Mercedes Benz truck.
The driver underwent an alcohol test as the police suspected that he may have been driving under the influence.
Manel was declared dead on the scene by Relay EMS emergency personnel and taken to the Graaff-Reinet Mortuary.
On the photo it looks as though a silver Polo was also involved in the accident, but this could not be confirmed by the police.
The truck driver was arrested and will appear in Graaff-Reinet Magistrates Court soon.
The police are awaiting the results of the alcohol test which will form part of the investigation.
