NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS – With the icy winter hopefully a thing of the past, the village of Nieu-Bethesda certainly seemed to have a spring in its step this school holiday.
The pear blossoms proved a perfect backdrop to a hive of activity that happened during the course of the week.
Katrina Lottering and the Khoi-san group co-ordinated a ‘toebroodjie dag’ where they provided delicious refreshments for local children and even put up a small pool for the brave to splash in.
An art retreat was hosted in the village by ‘The Stables’ art studio where creative juices flowed.
More fortunate dogs were housed in kennels thanks to Victoria Nance and the CSI which provided welcome shade in the soaring temperatures.

Bethesda always manages to throw in a surprise or two and was treated to an incredible performance by none other than the Radio Rats.
This 70s band rocked the night away in the Bat Barn much to the delight of locals and some fans who travelled all the way from PE. It was indeed a surreal blast from the past to witness this incredibly talented bunch of rockers singing their hit ‘ZX-Dan’ (which was only pipped by Michael Jackson in the number one spot on the hit parade in 1978!) A new energy abounds in the village now that spring has arrived!
