ABERDEEN NEWS — Aberdeen Bambinos, under the leadership of Leonie Bedaar and Jane Saayman, spent some time recently helping the children to prepare for exams.
The children range in age from 6 to 14 years, and although they all live in Lotusville, there are pupils from all three primary schools in the area in the group. Many of their parents have very little schooling and are unable to help their children.
As the weather was very hot on the day, the children were treated to a bottle of flavoured milk and two small yoghurts each, instead of a cooked meal. They were given a talk about the importance of studying for exams and some useful hints. Both Bedaar and Saayman completed their matric through ABET a few years ago and so could pass on advice from their own experience of recent studying.
The refreshments for the day were donated by Pick n Pay in Graaff-Reinet, and the organisers are very grateful for the ongoing support they receive from the store.
