GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A delegation of aggrieved community members was protesting outside the Graaff-Reinet Magistrates Court, when the bail application of the accused in the murder of Olwethu Oscar (33) Masetywa was heard.
Masetywa was allegedly murdered by his girlfriend Vuyokazi Tini (25), in uMasizakhe on Monday, 21 February 2021.
The accused’s bail application was dismissed after it was not possible to find any exceptional circumstances to justify her release.
EFF fighter, Anele Ngoyo, expressed gratitude towards the justice system for considering the demands contained in the memoranda that were delivered to the court on 1 and 8 March respectively, and for putting the interests of the community first.
He says that the decision of the court to deny bail proves that the voices of the community were heard.
"We will continue to be the voice for the voiceless until justice for Oscar is served."
The case was postponed until 12 April for further investigation and DNA test results to be made available to the court.
