GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - A family and friends' day hosted by the Graaff-Reinet Badminton Club on Sunday 30 June proved to be successful.

According to club chairperson Estelle Niemand, the day saw 12 current members and 10 visitors participate at Botanics Sports Centre. Some visitors came as far as Murraysburg and Victoria West.

"Being able to play against opponents that you don’t know from time to time makes for good practice and a perfect opportunity to gauge one’s own ability," Niemand told the Advertiser.

She thanked the management at Botanics for allowing the club to use their facilities and Parves Ahmed for sponsoring all the refreshments on the day.

"Much fun and laughter was had by all and we are hoping to host another open day soon, especially for locals to attend so that they can give the game of badminton a go," Niemand added.

The club plays on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm to 8pm, for those that may be interested in trying out the sport.
