NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — Susan Lottering, fondly known by Nieu-Bethesda residents as 'Aunty Toersie' was born on the 10 February 1934, so recently reached the remarkable age of 85.
Born in Nieu-Bethesda and having lived there her entire life, one can only imagine the changes she has seen in this unique little hamlet.
Mother to 9 children, 6 of which are still surviving, she has 'countless' grandchildren who love her dearly.
One of her beloved grandsons says, 'I am so blessed to have her as a granny…she is always funny and quite active for her age!"
Well-loved in the village, everyone knows her for the line, "Ek't kick-boxing gedoen, kyk hoe skop ek agteruit!", whereupon she kicks backwards of her single crutch, to the amusement of all around.
Her daughters Katriena and Amanda are incredibly proud of their mother and love her dearly. In her golden years Susan loves to read her Bible and is an avid church-goer. Singing is also a favourite past-time of this remarkable lady.
The village wishes 'Aunty Toersie' a very happy 85th birthday!
