KAROO NEWS - The two-month artist residency, a Rupert foundation project, has come to an end. The two artists, Georgia Munnik and Larissa Johnson, were part of the Terroir project in Graaff-Reinet.
The original project was about what the scent of the terroir would be post human extinction, which also included an invitation to respond through sound composition.
They applied for an exhibition in Stellenbosch and through that they received the artist residency in Graaff-Reinet. Munnik says that their work has become a social history project, comprising of their different expressions of their artistic, academic, personal and professional practices.
On 28 July, at the John Rupert Theatre, these two artists had the opportunity to present their work-in-progress to the public in an interactive show-and-tell. They shared photographs from their collaboration with Theodore Afrika who catalogued their work.
The next step in the project is to erect an exposition, compiling all the pieces that they worked on together and seeing how these can complement each other in one space.
