GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Saturday, 9 February, saw the second weekly Mountain Drive parkrun being held.
A whopping 146 people, of whom 53 were first timers and 33 recorded new personal bests, ran, walked or jogged the course.
The Mountain Drive parkrun record for women is held by Joanne van der Walt, who recorded a time of 25:48 on Saturday, 2 February, at the very first local parkrun event
The record for the men is held by Sipho November, who recorded a time of 18:21 this past Saturday, 9 February.
The age grade course record is also held by Sipho November who recorded 73.30% (18:21) on 9 February.
What is age grading?
All parkrun events use age grading to allow athletes to compare results.
Age grading takes your time and uses the world record time for your sex and age to produce a score (a percentage). This score allows you to compare your personal performance against other people's performances even though they might be a different age and different sex to you - the higher the score the better the performance.
- The event takes place every Saturday morning, starting at 08:00. Anyone wishing to participate can gather at the starting line, which is at the entrance to Mountain Drive opposite the Urquart Caravan Park, just before 08:00.
n It's not a requirement, but participants are encouraged to register for parkrun at www.parkrun.co.za before their first run - you only ever register with parkrun once. Take along a printed copy of your barcode to parkrun and have your time recorded.
