NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS – Since its inception in 2017, the Adopt-A-Tree Nieu-Bethesda project has planted 27 trees in 2017, and 18 trees in May 2018, making excellent use of the money raised so far.
All these trees were planted in public spaces along local avenues.
Fifteen other trees have been planted on local plots, independently funded by locals. One can only imagine the impact that 60 trees will have on the village in the future!
Adopt-A-Tree plans to plant an avenue of 40 pecan nut trees in one public avenue - reflecting the ancient pear avenue that was planted decades ago.
When these nuts come to fruition they will be available for the use of the whole community. Last week Lettie de Klerk school gathered under one of the village’s historic willow trees where they were treated to a talk on how important trees are for our environment, and ultimately our lives.
The children then planted 10 trees together with the help of the CWP.
