NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS— The 'Adopt-A-Tree' project in Nieu-Bethesda is delighted at the digging of 13 more holes for ten willow trees and three pecans that took place last week.
The planting of these trees means that this fruitful programme is well on its way to reaching its target for 2018.
The positive involvement of the local municipality and generous donations of trees have led to the success of the programme which aims to keep Bethesda green and flourishing.
Bethesda's CWP team also lends a hand when it comes to the arduous task of digging holes. The 'Adopt-A-Tree' team walked through the village last week, demarcating spots for willow trees.
A huge downpour had made the spots muddy and welcoming for the new trees that would be planted there. The next digging will be for about 13 pecan trees started this week.
These trees have been donated to the programme and will help satisfy one of the missions of the project – to plant trees and hedges that will help feed villagers in the future.
If anyone would like more information on the project or would like to adopt a tree for the future, please contact Jackie Mills on 063 746 8928.
