EASTERN CAPE NEWS - At least 10 people, including two pedestrians, have lost their lives from five separate crashes in the Eastern Cape over the past 12 hours.
According to Unathi Binqose, spokesperson for the Department of Transport, the deadliest of these crashes occured 19:00 last night, 23 December, and claimed four lives in a crash involving three cars - a bakkie and two sedans on the R61 road near or at Ntlakwe location in Bizana. The deceased were three females and one male, all adults.
In another incident, on the same R61 in Cofimvaba, three people died in a head-on collision involving an SUV and sedan.
Then, in other incident, two pedestrians were knocked down in two separate crashes, one at KwaBhaca and the other one in Bizana.
While on the N10 Between Klipfontein and Daggaboer's neck, a Toyota Fortuner with two occupants overturned, one died while the other one sustained injuries.
Cases of culpable homicide have been opened for each of these incidents.
