GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Karlien de Wet, consultant for Montego Pet Nutrition's Social Responsibility, hosted the first of a series of ''Paint for Purpose'' evenings in aid of the Narsingstraat Hostel's art program recently.
She guided 20 ladies from the Graaff-Reinet area through a two-hour basic art class, with the focus on Henri Matisse's Madame Matisse with a green stripe.
All the participants thoroughly enjoyed the evening, even those with no previous art training or experience. "We're so proud to have partnered with Hesti van der Mescht of Polka Deli, as we've received many compliments about the food and venue," said de Wet. The setup and décor, by Amori van Jaarsveld from Windmill Junction, were stunning.
Each month, those participating in the project will cover a different artist and use his or her work as inspiration and guideline for that evening's class. The next class will be on 4 April and will focus on Picasso. Those interested are urged to book tickets as soon as possible, as the first evening was sold out well ahead of the date. The class will run from 18:00 until 21:00.
Bookings should be made with de Wet on 082 925 2309.
Another way to support the Narsingstraat art programme is by making a donation to the fund, which is managed by Montego.
