GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — A recent Mayoral Outreach meeting, held by the Dr Beyers Naude Local Municipality to discuss their five-year Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and how it will affect the residents of Ward 4, 5 and 14 which includes Sunnyside, Spandauville, the industrial area, Mandela Park and Kroonvale, was held.
There was a reasonable attendance by the residents, but more people were expected, considering the extent of the area.
The community raised concerns about the state of the Kollie Koeberg sports complex, stormwater flooding in particular areas, illegal dumping and littering (which was expressed as a major problem and health hazard), speeding and general lawlessness, housing backlog, shortage of library facilities, and the like.
There were also allegations that municipal workers were not performing their duties due to lack of proper supervision.
