ABERDEEN NEWS — Earlier this month rumours were circulating in Aberdeen that two men who had been arrested for housebreaking and theft had escaped from the cells at the Aberdeen police station.
Both suspects were later rearrested in Lotusville. The first man was recaptured by Captain Qashani personally, after an operation involving information from the community led him to the suspect. The second man was later caught by members of the community, who returned the suspect to the police.
This information was confirmed by the Graaff- Reinet SAPS. An additional charge of escaping from lawful custody will be added to the charges pending against the suspects.
According to the spokesperson from Graaff-Reinet, SAPS has also opened a case of aiding prisoners to escape from lawful custody against two police constables attached to Aberdeen SAPS. The case is currently under investigation.
