ABERDEEN NEWS — On the farm Uitkyk, 25km out of Aberdeen towards Beaufort West, 180mm of rain has been measured since the beginning of the year.
Despite a large amount of rain, the fountain on the farm only started running on Monday night. This was a tremendous cause for celebration for the Nel family, as it is two years since the fountain last ran. “This is a good indicator of how intense the drought of 2016 was in the Karoo,” said Christelle Nel.
The whole Aberdeen area was blessed with an abundance of rain at the end of last week, with varying reports of up to 50mm on Saturday received from people in the town.
