COOKHOUSE NEWS - Cookhouse Police had a busy Easter after eight suspects were arrested during unrelated incidents involving various drugs over the weekend.
On Friday 2 April at approximately 20:00, a 36-year-old man was arrested at a house in Bongweni after drugs were found in his possession.
According to police spokesperson, Capt Bradley Rawlinson, 27 bompies dagga, one Madrax tablet, three sachets tik, four straws of tik and an undisclosed amount of cash was found in his possession. The suspect was arrested on the scene.
The following day, Saturday 3 April the Cookhouse Crime Prevention Unit and Cookhouse Route Patrol conducted foot patrols in Tyoksville where a 20-year-old suspect was arrested with three sachets of tik and an undisclosed amount of cash in his possession.
On Sunday at approximately 22:30 the crime prevention unit and route patrol members conducted a search and seizure operation at a residence in Qppollis Street, where five men between the ages of 18 and 28 were found in possession of nine straws of tik.
One person (21) was also arrested for the possession of tik during a search and seizure operation in Jansen Street on Monday 5 April at approximately 03:30.
All eight suspects were arrested and were due to appear in court on Tuesday 6 April.
By the time of going to print no details about their court appearances could be confirmed.
