GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - The Graaff-Reinet Police had a busy weekend after six suspects between the ages of 23 and 33 were arrested for mainly drug-related offences.
According to the local police spokesperson, Capt Bradley Rawlinson, the first arrest was made on Friday evening, 16 April, at approximately 20:00, when members of the Graaff-Reinet Operation Command Center team conducted a stop-and-search operation in Eunice Kekane Village.
"A 25-year-old man was found in possession of a presumably stolen laptop valued at approximately R3 000. The suspect could not account for the laptop or give proof of ownership and was arrested for possession of the suspected stolen property," he said.
On Saturday 17 April at 21:30, the team moved to Umasizakhe where a 31-year-old male was arrested after Mandrax tablets and dagga with an estimated street value of R110 was found in his possession.
The following day two suspects aged 23 and 33 were arrested in Church Street with Mandrax and tik in their possession. A 27-year-old suspect was also arrested for possession of tik after one straw with an estimated street value of R60 was found on him. Another man (29), was arrested in Kroonvale after Mandrax tablets and items allegedly used for house-breaking, were found in his possession.
All the suspects were scheduled to appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrates Court on Monday 19 April.
At the time of going to print details surrounding their court appearances were not available yet.
