ABERDEEN NEWS - An accident in the early hours of this morning, Monday, 11 June, on the notorious R61 between Aberdeen and Beaufort West - 7km from Aberdeen - has left five people dead and six seriously injured.
According to the witnesses, a white VW Jetta, travelling from the Beaufort West direction, appeared to lose control and came across the centre of the road into the path of a Toyota Avanza, travelling from the Aberdeen direction.
Three adults from the Jetta died on the scene, as well as a 7-year-old child from the Avanza.
The injured were taken to the Aberdeen hospital, where one woman, from the Jetta, later died of her injuries. Some of the injured have been taken to Midland Hospital in Graaff-Reinet for x-rays.
