GRAAFF-REINET NEWS - Four people were killed on Thursday afternoon, 19 July, on the R63 between Graaff-Reinet and Murraysburg when a VW Microbus overturned about 11km from Graaff-Reinet.
It is alleged that the driver of the vehicle, which was travelling towards Graaff-Reinet, lost control and the vehicle left the road, breaking through a fence and hitting a telephone pole before overturning.
The accident happened at approximately 14:25. Three of the six passengers ( two men and one woman) were thrown out of the vehicle, and died at the scene.
The remaining injured passengers were taken to Midland Hospital in Graaff-Reinet, and sadly one elderly woman died on arrival at the hospital.
One man remains in a serious condition, and a woman suffered minor injuries.
No more details are known at this stage.
A case of culpable homicide has been opened.
