GRAAFF-REINET GOLF NEWS - Golfers from Graaff-Reinet and surrounding areas had an exciting two weeks of golf at the Graaff-Reinet Golf Club.
On Wednesday 7 August, Rowan George won the Gold Rush sponsored individual stableford golf day (IPS) with 37 points. Jaco Venter was second with 33 points and Jacques Wagener third (30 points).
The club also welcomed a large number of golfers on Friday 9 August at the Women's Day social golf day. Members and visitors enjoyed golf in perfect weather.
On 10 August there was a small field in the Bonus Bogey competition, with all the important interschool matches played on the 10th. Weppie Weideman lead by a huge margin.
Bernie Weyer won the Wednesday 14 August Gold Rush sponsored competition with 38 points. Dave Luscombe was second with 37 points and Nick Steyn third with 34 points.
In the Sundowner on 16 August, Wally Gentry came first with 22 points, Jaco Venter second on 20 points and Bernie Weyer third on 17 points.
Juan-Louis du Plessis beat Colin Warner in the Holmes Cup competition.
On Saturday 17 August, high scores were attained at the HiQ/Midboard sponsored IPS golf competition. Andre du Plessis (42 points) won the competition, with Johnny Ludick (41 points) in second place and Bernie Weyer (40 points) in third.
Tobius Pretorius, Noel Taylor-Freem and Godwin Bosch all scored 38 points.
The Venters Wholesalers-sponsored Better Ball Competition will be played on 24 August.
