KAROO NEWS - The ANC finished the 2024 election with 41% and the DA with 38% in the Dr Beyers Naudè local municipality. There are 12 wards in this municipality of which the DA won in 7 wards and the ANC in 5 wards.
In the 2021 elections, the ANC won in 7 wards and the DA in 5 wards. This means that, in this election, the DA held on to its five wards – Wards 2, 4, 8, 9 and 12 – and took over two wards – Wards 1 and 7 – from the ANC. Ward 1 is Aberdeen and Ward 7 is Aberdeen Town, Adendorp and Koebergville.
As this is a national election the results have no immediate impact on the representation on local government level and will the municipal councillors retain their respective seats.
