CRADOCK NEWS - According to information received from SAPS Media Representative, Col. Ursula Roelofse, an intelligence driven operation led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Cradock on 26 September.
On 25 September at 15:15 members from the Cradock k9 unit, Sgt Du Plessis and his team, who was off-duty received information of a suspected stolen white Toyota Rumion vehicle in the area .
The K9 unit as well as Highway patrol, with the assistance of a local security company, immediately responded and searched for the vehicle which was subsequently spotted in Frere Street, Cradock.
The vehicle was positively identified , stopped, and searched, and upon testing the vin number on the chassis, it was found that the vehicle was reported stolen on a Samora Machel case number.
Two suspects, a 32 year old male and 34 year old female, were arrested, and the vehicle and cellphones were seized.
The Organised Crime Unit will continue with the investigation.
The suspects are being detained for unlawful possession of suspected stolen property .
The Chris Hani District Commissioner Major General Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the swift reaction that made the recovery and arrests possible.
