GRAAFF-REINET BUSINESS NEWS - Accounting, similar to life, is always changing. Stanley Accounting Services in Graaff-Reinet celebrates its 10th anniversary this year — a testament to their excellent service, stellar team, and their ability to continuously embrace change to remain current.

Husband and wife Arland and Elaine Stanley are at the helm of the taxation and accounting team, which has grown from two people to a team of eight since the business first started.

The couple met while studying in Cape Town, and lived and worked in Zimbabwe for sixteen years. After two years in Johannesburg, they brought a wealth of knowledge to Graaff-Reinet, where Elaine had attended Union Secondary School. The duo worked for Midboard Financial Services for two years, before venturing out on their own.

"It was exciting and daunting," remembers Elaine about their new venture, which started with a small client base. Now, ten years later, Stanley Accounting Services has worked with wonderful, interesting and kind clients, and their client base continues to grow.

"We have amazing clients and a community that support us — we treasure this," adds Elaine, thanking their community and clients.

It seems the Stanleys's strength lies in their ability to work well together.

"We support each other, work well together and complement each other," says Arland.

"Of course, they would be nowhere without their wonderful, dedicated team.

"We have a lovely team, and enjoy making decisions together," says Elaine.

Taxes are a large part of what Stanley Accounting Services does, which is why they believe it is crucial to remain informed and current to service their clients. "Tax is a dynamic field and continues to change each year," explains Arland. "As a registered organisation, we have to keep up."

Their other specialities include payroll and bookkeeping.

And what lies ahead for the Stanleys and their team? Definitely not retirement. "Times have changed. I can see myself working for the next ten years," says Arland.

"The key is to remain innovative."
