NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — Friday Night in Nieu-Bethesda is known by many as 'pizza night'.
Locals look forward to a night out of the kitchen and often make their way to 'Bruno’s' for delicious pizzas made by a talented team who are determined to please their clients.
Bruno Reolon is well respected in the village for his culinary genius, hair cutting ability and story-telling prowess! Around the time of the millennium his vision of a real Pizzeria came to fruition as he built a custom made pizza oven and slowly started working on the perfect thin crust, wood fired pizza.
'Albergo Alfresco' developed into a favourite meal time destination for locals and tourists alike - and Bruno’s pizzas became famous worldwide. Turning 80 this year, Bruno is now starting to slow down and was thus delighted when, about four years ago, Christopher Lloyd came into his life.
Christopher efficiently took over the cooking of the pizzas and has honed the process down to a fine art.
With his team - namely Lesley-Ann Pietersen and Lowry Swartz - (with Bruno there in an advisory capacity), guests can enjoy a variety of absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked pizzas.
The pizzeria caters for up to 50 people a night. Chris and his team fire up the oven up and prepare their ingredients from 3pm in the afternoon.
On chilly winter nights a quirky wheelbarrow filled with glowing embers can be wheeled right to your table. It is details like this that make 'Bruno’s' such a special place to be. While your toes are warming, and in between greeting the stream of locals who frequent the pizzeria, you can choose from a tantalizing menu of delights such as 'Tre Formagio' or 'Spicy Pollo Picante', which will be served to you with a smile for sure!
Open on Friday nights without fail, Chris is also happy to cater for special events on any other day - (see adjoining article!) 'Bruno’s' is one of Bethesda’s real success stories, and as the man himself said in his Swiss accent, one freezing Friday evening, “A man must be blessed to have such a fantastic team.”
