NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — The Nieu-Bethesda Sports Club will once again be hosting an art exhibition for local artists in Nieu-Bethesda on August 26.
Nieu-Bethesda is well known for professional artists who live and work here such as Martin and Charmaine Haines, Frans Boekkooi, David Langmead and Albert Redelinghuys. It is also a retreat for artists like Joanne Reen, Theresa Hardman and Raymond Westraadt who enjoy spending time in the village and recharging their creativity.
Artists from the area have also been invited to submit new works and it will be a treat to see the soft Karoo landscapes of Shirley Grindley and Marge Arnott from Graaff-Reinet, and Hazel van Niekerk, Sarie Reynolds and Janet Kingwills’ more impressionistic paintings for sale.
The village is also home to creatives such as Anje Gerrits, Jacques Muller, Dirkje Louw, Bronwen Langmead and Sarina Engelbrecht who will be creating a variety of works for this eclectic exhibition.
This year the exhibition is themed, “Under a Karoo Sky”, and the organisers look forward to the artists’ interpretation of this topic. The Bethesda Sports Club is well known for its hospitality, and this exhibition will be no different.
You are invited to the Club at 6.30 for 7pm to enjoy hearty snacks, a cash bar, and wonderful art! Dress will be smart casual and no children under 12 are allowed.
There are many guesthouses in the village for those who would like to make an evening of this special event. Contact Andoret Wolfaardt on 078 466 0398 for more information.
