NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — On Thursday, December 15, at 8pm, Nieu-Bethesda will once again be treated to music of the highest order at ‘Die Ramstal’ Pub.
Cherry Pill consists of a musical duo who are passionate about using the violin, guitar and their voices to create intimate musical experiences with a focus on quality musicianship and songs that tell a story.
The band is based in Johannesburg, South Africa and showcases the original songs of Kristel Birkholtz and Rory Gaddin.
Since those early beginnings, the band's music has grown and transformed into a blend of musical styles ranging from acoustic folk to upbeat pop rock, with strong influences from classical and jazz music, as well as influences as diverse as Sting, Massive Attack, Lauryn Hill and Sarah McLaughlin.
Since releasing their début CD in late 2014, Cherry Pill has had the opportunity to perform their songs at MIDEM 2015 in Cannes. It was on this trip to France that founding members Kristel and Rory met and collaborated with pianist Tshepo Monareng and bassist Thabang Malete and included them in into the band line-up. Drummer Warren Knocker adds his powerful sense of rhythm to complete the overall sound that is unique to Cherry Pill.
‘Chocolate Box’ is a collection of songs written and refined over a number of years and tells the stories of a variety of experiences and emotions inspired by the people and places that have touched the lives of the members of the band. Join the due in Nieu-Bethesda and be a part of their journey too!
