ABERDEEN NEWS — A novel addition to the Aberdeen Dutch Reformed Church Christmas Night Market will be a drive to cook 200 hamburgers in 200 minutes, and distribute them to needy families in the community.
The idea was raised by Hantie Marx, well-known local farmer and butcher, who is a staunch member of the church. With the help of others, the concept was worked out, and children from the church will be asked to help braai, assemble and distribute the hamburgers on the evening of the market. Bread rolls, margarine and sauces have all been donated, as well as money for the packaging materials, making this a wonderful charity initiative.
Ladies from the church have not been idle, and many are already involved with baking and craft projects to sell on the night.
The market will be held this Saturday, December 3, in the church hall, from 5pm till late. All are very welcome to attend.
