NIEU-BETHESDA NEWS — The Nieu-Bethesda Sports Club made good use of its newly resurfaced courts by holding a festive tennis tournament last Saturday.
Players arrived early from as far afield as Murraysburg, Richmond and Graaff-Reinet to make the most of the day.
Serious competitors, dads and daughters, old friends and new, husbands and wives partnered up to play some excellent and entertaining tennis.
As always, food arrived to feast upon during the day and ‘bykos’ was stylishly served with a delicious steak braai later in the evening. A semicircle of chairs flanked the courts for the final game which was riveting to watch.
The deserving winners overall were Schalk Pienaar and Phillipie Wolfhaart who outplayed even the best at the end of the day.
