GRAAFF-REINET NEWS — The organisers are delighted to announce that a prestigious and successful rugby team from Johannesburg will be taking part in the rugby festival to be held at the Collie Koeberg Stadium in April over the Easter weekend.
The team is coached by a former Central Rugby Club player who was very well known in the area.
Randall Koopman played the position of right wing and won many accolades with Central Rugby Club, which included winning the Karoo and NEC Senior leagues in the 1990s.
Koopman moved to Johannesburg 15 years ago but is still involved in rugby. He is now the proud coach of Knights Rugby Club, based at the Johannesburg Correctional Services in the south of Johannesburg.
Last year the Knights won the Lions President League, and narrowly lost in a thrilling final against Jabulani from Soweto at a curtain- raiser for the Lions and Crusaders at Ellispark.
They will be bringing a team filled with young blood to participate in the tournament, and will also include a few well-known Graaff-Reinet players - Farin Koopman (8), Jeraldo Koopman (9), Gareth Koopman (12), Justin Skepe (10) and Cardi Mabee (14).
