RUGBY NEWS - Southern Kings coach Deon Davids has admitted that the thought of having to start from scratch again in building a team next season is something he is concerned about, but at the same time he is not letting negative thoughts cloud his head.
The Kings have made a big statement over the past month and have become the flavour of Vodacom Super Rugby locally after their three successive wins that culminated in the exciting victory over the Cell C Sharks last weekend. That result represented their much-needed first victory over a fellow South African team.
However, while the Kings have galvanised themselves around a strong team culture and have been impressing friend and foe with their exciting brand of running rugby, the Sword of Damocles continues to hang over their heads.
The prospect that the Eastern Cape franchise will not be playing Super Rugby next year is prompting players to look at outside offers, and Davids knows the Kings will struggle to keep players. As the Kings have continued to gather momentum, so their players have become more in demand.
